Stratton Town Forest
About

The Stratton Town Forest was made possible through a partnership with Stratton Select Board and SoVTA. Phase 1 of the project was executed with grants from The Lyman Orton Foundation and the Vermont Community Foundation as well as over a 1000 volunteer hours.

There is only an 8 car lot that serves this property, so please have a plan B if the lot is full. Thing will be busiest on weekends and weeknights. The Stratton Recreation Area has a lot of parking and there is slightly more parking at the Trails at Crosstown.

The Stratton Town Forest is the next progression in difficulty from the North Side of Crosstown and Stratton Rec.  The trails are rocky, firm and flowy and drain exceptional well.

Trail descriptions and routes

Blue Brook Boogie:
Distance: 1.00 Miles, Elevation +-90ft

Blue Brook Boogie is a bi-directional green adaptive/family friendly multi-use trail that winds it way from the parking lot through several mica schist cliff bands and glacial erratic’s as it makes its way over to Sweet Tooth where it crosses the headwaters of Blue Brook. This trail provides an amazing look and the geology of the area and has several bench/places to rest to take in the views.

We would suggest this trail as then next in progression from the Friar Tuck at Crosstown and Dupell’s Down at Stratton Rec.

Sweet Tooth:
Distance: 1.00 Miles, Elevation +-200ft

The trail is a green directional green adaptive/family friendly multi-use trail that has gentle banked turns, grade reversals and rollers as you make your way around the loop. There is are several resting areas/ bench’s along the trail to take in the views of the older growth forest where sugaring used to take place on the property.

We would suggest this trail as then next in progression from the Sherwood/Nottingham/Friar Tuck loop at Crosstown
